Week 2-Oregon Coast

A little over a week ago, we left California and entered Oregon.  We went directly to the Welcome Center, which is very close by and is well marked on the highway.  We were greeted by some very nice ladies, who were very helpful.  We got lots of information and decided to walk outside to see the beach, familiarly named Crissy Field Beach!  For those not familiar with San Francisco, that city also has a Crissy Field Beach.  Ha!

We drove a little ways to Brookings.  We called it a night at the Riverside RV Park on the Chetco River.  It was peaceful and quiet, with a pretty outdoor sitting area right on the river.  We had the place to ourselves.

Our immediate reactions were awe.  All this natural beauty, and nobody seemed to be out enjoying it?  I'm telling you, trees are EVERYWHERE!  There is an abundance of rivers and streams, and the coast is stunning.

The only foggy day we had.

Happy mistake while trying to set up the timer.

We were happy to be able to see what we could only hear the day before.

We made our way north at a snail's pace.  Turns out the Oregon coast is divided up into three sections; southern, central, and north.  The southern coast is wild and not highly populated, but it has state parks and other state sites galore.  Every time I looked ahead, there was another sign pointing to another site to see.  We had only one day of fog, which didn't surprise me.  What did surprise me, was how much sunshine we got to enjoy, minus the heat.  Cool, sunny days, thank you very much!

Tried to find our way down to Secret Beach.  We think this is it, but we are not sure.  Doesn't matter, it's exactly what we wanted.

Coooooold water!

We had no reservations and were able to drive in to an RV park or state park and get a site.  Some had hook ups, others didn't, and that's ok because our camper is amazing.  It can go pretty much anywhere and we can use lights, the fridge, etc. because the battery is constantly being charged, either via solar panel or the truck when it's running.

I love being able to rest and have lunch in the comfort of my own home after a hike!

We moved up the coast and landed in Port Orford.  It was windy and wild with a long, seemingly deserted beach, where we met this cutie.  We walked to the fishing pier and saw this yacht.  We stayed at a parking spot Daniel found on his "i overlander" app.  It consisted of a flat spot and an honesty box, but that view!

This yacht got the attention of lots of residents.

We were ambushed by a t-rex and barely escaped!

We drove through Gold Beach and stopped at Cape Blanco State Park.  There we saw the lighthouse (closed on Tuesdays, of course) and it was still super windy!

That's Daniel by the lighthouse.

Soooo windy!  We had to shout to be heard.
